Visit Outfit of the Day – 4/21/12

Strong Prison Wives Co-Founder Ro’s Visit Outfit of the Day (VOOD).
Today, I decided to be warm, comfortable and cute for my visit. I also tried a new makeup look from Makeup Geek that was much cuter on Marlena than on me. I didn’t have the proper colors and the ones I used wound up accentuating my red, puffy, irritated, tired eyes. Even though I said I wasn’t going to try new looks unless testing them out in the off time between visits, I decided to do this one on the spot, for the first time. I should have listened to my intuition.

As I was filming today’s, VOOD video, I began wondering what other Strong Prison Wives do the morning of a visit. Do you rush around or get up early and take your time doing the girlie stuff?

When Adam was only 2.5 hours away, I’d get up, quickly shower then hop in the car to get through the drive. I’d leave in sweats or pj’s and pull off the road to quickly change my clothes at a McDonlads or rest stop close to the facility. Once I’d arrive, I’d do my makeup in the parking lot. Always feeling rushed and disheveled, I’d make a mad dash to get in the door and processed before count. Talk about stressful mornings. During that time, I earned more speeding tickets than I’d like to admit.

Now that I have to get a hotel room the night before visit, I get up early, make coffee and breakfast, take a long shower, check in with my SPW’s in video form then play with my hair and makeup until its time to leave. I thoroughly enjoy myself as I get ready for my “date.”

Since the facility is all the way on top of a secluded mountain, I’ve met many people who drive through the night and time it perfectly to arrive at the facility between 8-9 am. Oof, I give them all the credit in the world; I don’t function well without sleep.
